January 2012 Technology News!
We have just recently updated our Technology Agreement! Most families have responded and we have it all set in place now. It is posted on our Important Documents page and below.
With the beginning of the new year - all students will be focusing on keyboarding skills. We will be using Learning.com and Type to Learn programs. It's been hard trying to get everything in with only 45 minute classes, but for the rest of the school year we will be making an effort to focus on keyboarding skills in all classes.
The kindergartners will also be working on finding programs and/or website on their own. Right now they are great once on a program or website is opened for them, but still need help getting there. Our goal is to become technology-use independent!
Along with keyboarding, first and second graders will be finishing up basic power point slide skills. They are going to be using the World Book online to create a presentation on their favorite animal. Should be fun! All presentations are due the end of the quarter and they will be presenting their work then.
Third through sixth grade will be creating their own power point slide presentation. They are choosing a topic of their own to work on, researching it using search engines, and gathering information/pictures for their presentation. They also will be wrapping this up the end of the quarter and doing class presentations.
We all are continuing to learn how to use the new laptops! It's been fun and challenging for us all, including Mrs. K!

We use the National Educational Technology Standards (NETS) for students and Montana's Technology Standards for designing and structuring our technology classes.
Please find below technology skills check lists for each grade level at Amsterdam Schools. Since this is a work in progress, I would appreciate your comments, questions, and thoughts.
